GartnerGroup's Dataquest Appoints Director of Research for Telecommunications in Asia/Pacific
Singapore, September 28, 1999-Dataquest Inc., a unit of Gartner Group, Inc. (NYSE: IT), today announced the recent appointment of Bertrand Bidaud as director of telecommunications research for Asia/Pacific. Based in Singapore, Mr. Bidaud has taken on responsibility for strengthening and expanding the telecommunications research initiatives for the region.
In his new role, Mr. Bidaud will supervise Dataquest research analysts across the entire Asia and Oceania region. He will also assist with and coordinate research with other research centers located in North America, Europe, and Japan.
"The IT market in Asia (including Japan) is slightly over one half trillion dollars and is expected to exceed $800 billion by 2003. With telecommunications-related spending comprising around 60 percent of this amount, most of our clients are actively looking to expand their presence in this market," said John Dinsdale, vice president of Dataquest's worldwide telecommunications group. Before joining GartnerGroup, Mr. Bidaud served for two years as the telecommunications and Internet advisor to the Malaysian government for the development of the Multimedia Super Corridor project. He also spent four years in charge of the telecommunications business practice for the Southeast Asia region of Coopers & Lybrand. Mr. Bidaud graduated from one of the leading French engineering schools with a "Grandes Ecoles: Arts et Metiers."
