Decision Tools for Cost Management These tools facilitate the collection and measurement of direct and indirect IT costs and service levels, allowing you to analyze and manage a wide range of cost and risk-related issues within business computing environments. They can assist you in effectively measuring the impact of IT decisions, while creating output that will accurately communicate the real value of IT investments to your enterprise. The TCO Manager family of products helps you understand three basic scenarios concerning the total cost of ownership for your environment: Where am I? How do I compare? Where can I go? This tool allows you to input actual cost, personnel, workload and service-level data for your operation. You can compare your actual data to Gartner database averages and to create and explore "what if" scenarios. The Gartner TCO Chart of Accounts is embedded in the tool, and provides the framework for these kinds of comparative analyses. The TCO Analyst products provide a subset of features found in TCO Manager, and are available for all models, with the exception of the Enterprise Operations Center, Data Networks and Voice Telecom. Analyst products do allow for scenario playing based on asset counts (how many PCs, printers, etc.) and how existing processes relate to best practices. Cost results are estimates based on Gartner Research and Gartner Benchmarking data. TCO Analyst products do not collect cost data.
